TWO men have been arrested for allegedly terrorising villagers in Gokwe.

In a statement, Criminal Investigations Department spokesperson, Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri, said they had apprehended, Andrew Aunde of Masuka Village and Tinashe Muzenda of Mashove Village in Gokwe, in connection with a series of robberies.

“The duo is currently facing 20 counts of robbery,” said Det-Insp Muteweri.

“On March 3, 2026, at approximately 3.30am, Aunde and his accomplices targeted one of the victims, robbing them of US$2 180, airtime cards and various items of clothing.

“As the suspects fled the scene, the victim called out for help, which prompted nearby residents to respond.

“They pursued the suspects, resulting in a citizen’s arrest of Andrew Aunde. Following this incident, a police report was filed, leading to the eventual arrest of Tinashe Muzenda,” she said.

Further investigations have revealed that Aunde and Muzenda, along with accomplices Tanaka, Sydney Ngulube, and Magaisa (Tafadzwa), still at large, have been terrorising residents in the Sasame area, Gokwe.

In a notable incident on February 23, 2026, the gang, armed with machetes, attacked a victim and stole cash, cellphones, and clothing, among other valuables. That same night, they struck five additional victims, securing a range of cash and electronic  items.

The suspects appeared at the Gokwe Magistrates Court on March 5, 2026, and have been remanded in custody as preparations for their trial begin.

Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in locating the outstanding suspects, Tanaka, Sydney Ngulube, and Magaisa (Tafadzwa).

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police commend the community for their vigilant efforts in combating crime. Your cooperation is vital to maintaining safety and security in our neighbourhoods,” said Det-Insp Muteweri.
