TWO men have been arrested on allegations of stealing a Mercedes Benz E240 from a car park in Tynwald South.

Tsaurayi Mungate (25) and David Sawari (35) yesterday appeared before Harare magistrate Yeukai Dzuda, who remanded them in custody.

Allegations are that on April 11, at around 10pm, the pair connived to steal the vehicle belonging to Brian Duma, from Atlanta Car Park, in Tynwald South.

Mungate was arrested on July 28 and he led the CID Vehicle Theft Squad to where the vehicle, which had already been stripped of parts, was.

Mungate also led detectives to the second accused, Sawari, who he claimed sold the vehicle to him.

When they were arrested, the two could not satisfactorily explain where they got the vehicle.

The total value of the stolen car is US$3 000.

Anesu Chirenje appeared for the State.
