A HARARE man says his wife is deliberately tormenting him after she was granted a protection order.

Leonard Karemba has since applied for a counter protection order against his wife, Rumbidzai Rwaendepi.

Leonard accused Rumbidzai of verbal, physical and emotional abuse.

“Ever since she acquired the protection order, she has become a bully because she knows the law is protecting her,” he said.

In her defence, Rumbidzai told the court that her husband was seeking revenge since the court ordered that she be allowed to return to their matrimonial home.

She said Leonard once disappeared for five days, after she was granted the protection order, and complained that he was no longer taking care of his children, as a way of revenge.

“Most of the time, he comes home and points a gun at me and the children, saying he can kill us, as he used to work in the army,” said Rumbidzai.

She also alleged that Leonard labels her a prostitute.

Magistrate Rutendo Machingura dismissed Leonard’s protection order application for lack of merit.
