Duo jailed for stealing tobacco bales

connived to steal the crop from their 61-year-old employer. This was after they were assigned to load tobacco bales into the truck for sell at Tianzee Auction Floors in Harare.

During the loading process, they hatched a plan and loaded four extra bales into the truck. Pindai later drove out of the farm premises and dropped the loot along the way.
Manyera followed behind and took the loot and sold it to Boka Auction Floors using one Patson Gauti’s tobacco grower’s number.

The pair shared the money after selling the crop.
On April 22, detectives from CID Beatrice received a tip off leading to the duo’s arrest.

Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Kudakwashe Jarabini slapped each with a 16-month jail term but set aside three months for the next five years. A further four months were suspended on condition each man restitutes the farmer US$1 200 by June 30.
Mr Edmond Ndambakuwa appeared for the State.
