Kasondela Luzibo
THERE were some surprises in the ZRP Bulawayo Province Inter-Stations Soccer League Round 27. Deserving a special mention are two players who stole the limelight Witness Nyathi and Leeroy Homera of Pumula and Western Commonage starred for their teams scoring a quadruple and a hat-trick respectively.
Pumula humiliates Khumalo
It was double trouble for Khumalo FC who made the longest trip to Pumula and went on to lose by a huge margin, 6-1. Pumula meant business from the first whistle till the end. Their talisman Isaac Mufara might have not scored but he had four assists to his name with Nyathi scoring four times with the third one a beauty. He roasted his man in and out before letting go a curler that gave the goalkeeper no chance at all. Not to be left out, young Owen Nyoni scored a brace, and Witness Ndlovu scored a face saver for Khumalo FC.
West Com wins West District derby
Ndola Grounds in Iminyela was the place to be as West Commonage locked horns with Mzilikazi in a tense affair. Both teams did not disappoint as a total of eight goals were scored with West Commonage beating the away team 5-
3. The tricky and gangly Leeroy Homera was the star of the show, scoring a hat-trick for West Commonnage with Prosper Gavi and Reuben Sithole scoring the other goals. Mzilikazi gave it all they could but found the home team resolute in defence. A brace from the now leading goalscorer Joseph Zimba on 24 and Johnson Timire were not enough to salvage a point.

Magwegwe edge Donnington
Donnington had no one to blame but themselves as they lost 2-1 at Marisha as they failed to punish Magwegwe FC. It was in the middle of the park where all the play was concentrated with Xolani Ndlovu, Kuda Kashongambabvu and Mpumelelo Muchipisi fighting it out with the likes of Mhlengi Ndlovu, Aleck Ganyiwa. The visitors drew first blood in the 42nd minute with a well taken freekick some 25 yards away off the boot of Muchipisi whose deeping effort beat the Magwegwe goalkeeper.
At the stroke of half-time Tanaka Manyewe scored the equaliser when Nyasha Tizai made a blunder instead of catching the ball, he tried to clear it with his feet and he completely missed the ball to concede a goal. In the 54th minute, Magwegwe won a freekick a few metres from the centreline, Nickson Mukangaza flighted the ball just behind the defence, Ashley Gahadza raced goal wards and the Donnington defence did not move thinking that he was in an offside position, the captain however could not head it past Tizai in goal but it was Methuseli Maphosa whose first time volley gave the golakeeper no chance. It was a sweet 2-1 victory and revenge for Magwegwe after the full time whistle who lost the first round tie 2-0.
Entumbane, Central share spoils
The defending champions Entumbane stretched their unbeaten run to 27 matches with a two all draw in an exciting match played at Emakhandeni Ground on Wednesday afternoon. One would have thought they were in for their first loss of the season but it was not to be, Leeroy Ndlovu for Central scored a brace and so did Frank Shumba for the home team. It was a highly tense and emotional game that saw the Entumbane gaffer Mandisi Nyathi being given marching orders for violent conduct. The match ended 2-2.
Tshabalala defeat Cowdray Park
Cowdray suffered a 4-2 home loss when they hosted Tshabalala FC. The derby started on a high tempo with both teams hungry for goals. On 15 minutes, Ronald Manyongori scored a spectacular set piece , Cuthbert Kore contributed another for Cowdray Park and goals from Amos Dzenga, Samuel Chiwashira, Amos Mauni and Ndumiso Ncube were handy for Tshabalala.
Njube stun Sauerspark
Small as they maybe, Njube pulled a shocker when they beat the star-studded SauersPark, who are a combined team of two stations Sauerstown and Queens Park 2-1 at Mtshede Primary School. Njube did not read much into that one finding their goals through the boot of Frank Mashayamhara and Kudakwashe Karunkomo, the nomadic Dennis Chikopera scored for SauersPark.
Traffic, CID share spoils
Traffic finally collected a point after so much time of asking as losing was becoming the order of the day for them. Both teams had glorious chances that they could have been buried but it was not to be. It was so near yet so far to get a goal from either team. The games between Luveve, PHQ and Hillside versus Nkulumane were postponed to Friday 20 September 2024, kick off is 1500 hours.
