Two men from Chiwundura have been arrested after they allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl simultaneously, one of them through the anus. The strange sexual assault left the minor unconscious. She was only picked up by a passerby without her pants after her horror experience at the hands of her two attackers. Patrick Virima and Terrance Mavondo both aged 20 are now facing a charge of rape. They appeared in court at the Gweru magistrate’s court and were remanded in custody to Monday next week.
According to the prosecutor, Emmanuel Matosi, Virima and Mavondo, both from Maveni Village under Chief Gambiza, were drinking beer at Gambiza business centre early last month when they saw the complainant passing by. They followed the girl and started proposing love to her but she declined.
It was the State’s case that the two accused grabbed the girl and started raping her at once. Matosi said one penetrated her from the front while the other assaulted the victim from behind.
The girl fell unconscious in the bizarre double rape and collapsed and was later picked up by a passerby while lying helplessly without her pants. The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the two.
In an unrelated incident, police in Gweru have arrested two students at Kaguvi Vocational Training Centre after they allegedly coerced a female colleague to drink some hot-stuff to excess before they took turns to rape her while she was in her drunken stupor.
Police spokesperson for Midlands province, Inspector Emanuel Mahoko confirmed the arrests of Leon Zimvuri, 19 of Mbizo 5 Kwekwe and Walter Nkomo, 20 of Nketa 9, Bulawayo following the rape incident.
The two have since been hauled before the Gweru courts but the Area Public Prosecutor, Brain Muzemba, advised police to conduct further investigations. The suspects were freed and would be brought to court by way of summons.
Allegations against the two students are that some time last month, they were drinking spirits at Kaguvi campus bar in the company of the complaint and four other students. The two allegedly connived and took the complainant to the institution’s sports grounds where they forced her to drink to excess.
They then allegedly took advantage of her drunken stupor and raped her. She reported the matter to the police on the following day.
