DUTCH DELIGHT IN KARIBA

PIETER De Jong must be loving life on the road since he returned for a second spell as Highlanders coach.

The Dutchman, who marked his return with a 2-1 away win over Bikita Minerals, guided Bosso to yet another win on the road with a 1-0 victory over Herentals in a Chibuku Super Cup first round game at Nyamhunga.

Mason Mushore scored the priceless goal seven minutes from regulation time.

In his only match at home last weekend, the Dutchman guided Bosso to a 1-1 draw with Yadah.

When he arrived, Highlanders had not won a league match in five games.

Now, in three matches under the Dutchman, Highlanders are yet to lose a match and will now take on Scottland in a glamour quarter-final battle.

Yesterday’s battle appeared to be heading for a penalty shootout until Mushore intervened and sent the Bosso fans into delirium in Kariba.

The Dutchman, however, has made it clear that league survival comes before cup glory.

He guided Highlanders to the 2019 Chibuku Super Cup title.

“For me, I have said the most important thing is to get us 40 points, which guarantees us safety and we have seven games to do that,” said De Jongh.
