DYNAMOS coach Lloyd “Mablanyo” Chigowr got a glimpse of what his charges can do this season when they sized-up with Central Region Soccer League side Hardrock at Baghdad Stadium in Kwekwe yesterday.

The training match was well-attended bringing back past memories when Lanchshire Steel were still in the league.

The game was tough and very tense.

It finished goalless but Chigowe was left a satisfied man with the manner in which his boys shaped up on a bumpy turf.

And their performance, though erratic at times, was decent.

That should in a way give credence to Chigowe’s affirmation that Dynamos can still compete even after losing some of their key players during this transfer season.

Dynamos, by virtue of winning the Chibuku Super Cup last year, get their season underway next weekend when they play league champions Simba Bhora in the Castle Challenge final at Rufaro.

This is their second appearance in the same game after losing last year’s duel to Ngezi Platinum.

Chigowe has since expressed confidence in his team.

“I see a team that is balanced, although we are a bit shaken given the number of players we have lost.

“But we are not completely down. We have a lot of youngsters who are willing to work,” said Chigowe.

“Look, we have a lot of players, key players like Donald Mudadi, Frank Makarati, Emmanuel Ziocha, Kevin Moyo and Frederick Ansah Botchway who left to join other teams.

“It’s always difficult to start again given the core of the team is no longer there.

“But I am very happy with what I have at my disposal right now.

“I am really happy given that we have several players who were at the team still around.

“You look at the likes of Keith Madera, Shadreck Nyahwa, Temptation Chiwunga, Alexander Mandinyenya, Devon Chafa, Prince Tafirenyika and Valentine Kadonzvo along with others.

“We are banking on that.

“We also have a lot of youngsters who have blended well with the rest of the team.

“I am very impressed with how we are playing. Their determination and experience have impressed me.

“I am very confident that we will punch well when the league kicks off.

“We are looking to win the Castle Challenge Cup first and then see what happens in the season.

“Dynamos should be seen fighting for trophies always.”

Chigowe is confident that two of his key players from last season Martin Mapisa and Emmanuel Jalai will be back before next weekend’s game.
