REIGNING Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Dynamos offloaded three players as they beefed up their squad ahead of the resumption of league matches next week.
Highlanders also parted ways with joint top scorer Graham Ncube on Tuesday and the injured Honest Moyo, who became the second and third players to be offloaded by the Bulawayo giants during the second transfer window after Cleopas Dube.
DeMbare offloaded former Hwange strikers Francisco Zvikumbawire and Allen Tavariswa as well as defender Bryan Madzokere whose places have been taken by Benjamin Marere, Oscar Machapa and Victor Kamhuka.“Madzokere remains a Dynamos player but since he has a recurring back injury we wanted him to take some time off so as to recuperate. Zvikumbawire while he is also injury prone has really not given us value for money, so has Tavariswa,” said Dynamos chairman Kenny Mubaiwa.
Zvikumbawire had a high profile move from the coalminers after he cost Dynamos $16 000 for a season’s loan but played less than five games for the Glamour Boys forcing the highly ambitious Harare giants to part ways with him.
Mubaiwa said they were confident that their new signings will fit in well at the club and help them realise their dream of winning all the remaining cups.
“We have the BancABC Sup8r, the upcoming Mbada Cup which we are holders of as well as the prestigious league title. As a club we are definitely looking forward to winning both cups and the league championship hence the acquisition of these players,” said Mubaiwa.
In other transfer news, Hwange have taken on board former Chicken Inn player Richard Jongwe as they bid to stay afloat while Shabanie Mine roped in nomadic forward Norman Maroto.
Meanwhile, the Football Union of Zimbabwe, who have already threatened to take clubs to the Labour Court if they terminate players’ contracts without their consent, have said all players who have been offloaded during the second window that closed yesterday should be paid their full salaries until those contracts run out.
“Contracts should be terminated by mutual consent but as long as clubs fail to follow that, the contracts are deemed to be still running and we expect clubs to honour them to the end,” said FUZ secretary general Paul Gundani.
Highlanders brought on board Tinashe Chipunza who impressed club coaches during trials. Master Masitara’s move hangs in the balance as Nico United despite not having a contract with him, are refusing to release him.
