DYNAMOS have suspended head coach Saul Chaminuka without pay, while he’s already serving a PSL-imposed ban, plunging the club deeper into crisis with just 12 games left to save their season.
The coach was informed today (Friday) of his suspension over poor results, insubordination, and “unbecoming conduct,” following an executive review of the team’s freefall.
“In light of the above, a prima facie case has been established against you… You are hereby suspended from work without pay and benefits,” reads part of the letter from secretary general Webster Marechera.
Chaminuka’s record since taking over in May is dismal: one win, four draws, four losses, and one abandoned match which was later awarded 3-0 to FC Platinum after he ordered a walkout. He was this week fined US$4,000 and banned for two matches, while Dynamos were hit with a separate US$5,000 fine.
His suspension could be the prelude to a formal exit. He’s now set for a disciplinary hearing and barred from contacting players, coaches or entering club facilities.
Former Highlanders boss Kelvin Kaindu is tipped as a possible replacement.
Dynamos are winless in six and have failed to score in that stretch. Interim coach Philemon Mutyakureva admits the team is struggling up front.
“It’s not a secret, we need strikers,” he said. “There’s pressure on everyone. Nothing short of a win against Chicken Inn will keep our hopes alive.”
DeMbare remain deep in the relegation zone, with just six goals from 22 games.
