DZ residents welcome footbridge

RESIDENTS of Dzivaresekwa Extension have welcomed a 20-metre footbridge which was constructed in the area.

A public toilet has also been completed.It was built at the Dzivaresekwa Extension Government Clinic.

The facilities were pioneered by the area’s Member of Parliament, Edwin Mushoriwa, together with the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committee.

Various stakeholders, including councillors, the District Medical Officer, the Clinic staff, health community committee members, community leaders and residents attended the ceremony.

“This milestone aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sani￾tation.“We have adopted a data-driven, evidence-informed approach to development.

From planning to execution, these projects are a reflection of transparency, community consultation and strict adherence to quality standards,” said Mushoriwa.

He added:

“The footbridge reduces physical barriers within the community, particularly for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.”

A resident, Tapiwa Chipangura, said such developments were important to the residents.

“We appreciate that we have a bridge which connects Dzivaresekwa Extension and Dzivaresekwa.

“People are now able to cross, especially the school-going children.

“We appreciate the transparency on the CDF funds, which were used properly. This should not go unnoticed.”Another resident, Rebbeca Chule, said:

“Tinotenda nezvaitwa izvi because people were having a challenge crossing to the next location but with this footbridge, we are relieved.

“Our children will not have challenges to cross over. We need such developments regularly so that we see kuti mari dziri kushandiswa nemazvo.”

The third major project is a 12kV solar power installation at Gombo Primary School.
