TWO men who ran a fake ID factory right under the nose of the law in Bulawayo have been slapped with jail time after their scam was exposed.
Brian Veririzhi (40) and Thamsanqa Moyo (37) were operating a slick identity card forgery racket at the Umguza Civil Registry Department inside the Tredgold Building, just a stone’s throw from the courts.
Their downfall came after an explosive Check Point investigation triggered a CID crackdown in April.

The pair appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Beverly Madzikatire on Friday and were convicted of forgery under Section 137 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
Prosecutor Josephine Gurazhira told the court how the duo had been producing and selling fraudulent national IDs with shocking ease.
Magistrate Madzikatire sentenced them to 24 months behind bars, suspending six months for five years on condition of good behaviour. That leaves the fraudsters with 18 months of hard time to reflect on their scam.
