DZIVARESEKWA residents are mourning following death of seven people in a fatal road traf-fic accident along the Harare-Bulawayo road.
The accident involving a Kombi and two trucks claimed a couple, Sophia Machemba aged 35 and her husband Enock Chanengeta aged 40.
All the deceased lived in Dzivaresekwa 3.
Sophia used to be popular as a food vendor along Mazowe Road close to Parirenyatwa Hospital while her husband Enock did the same job along Leopold Takawira Road close to the same Hospital.
When H-Metro visited Zororo Street in Dzivaresekwa 3, mourners were gathered at two houses separated 100 meters from each other.
Mourners gathered at the deceased couple’s respective parents’ homes.
“We have been robbed of a couple who taught a number of people around here to do self-jobs.
“Sophia and Enock have been teachers of self-help projects and they met their fate together since they were rushing to Parirenyatwa Hospital where they used to conduct their business.
“Mudzimai arikuchemerwa pamba pevabereki vake murume arikuchemerwawo pamba pevabereki vake muno muna Zororo Street.
“Residents have been touched by the tragedy and to see their children running up and down to attend funeral of their parents at separate houses is painful.
“They used to be tenants somewhere but on this day they were coming from the house of Enock’s parents,” said one of the residents.
Ali Machemba, 30, sister to the late Sophia, told H-Metro that he was taught self-job by his brother in-law, Enock.
“My brother in-law Enock was the one who took me off the streets to work on self-help pro-jects.
“I cannot believe this, he gave me ideas to earn a living, this is unbelievable.
“I have lost my loving sister although we used to differ on other issues, but she led me to a better life through her husband.
“Their children are yet to accept this, they are walking up and down the Street along the road to attend funerals of their parents,” said Ali in tears.
