ORLANDO Pirates forward, Terence Dzvukamanja’s season keeps getting better after defying the boo boys who were calling for his head at the beginning of the season.
His 72nd minute diving header powered the Buccaneers to a 2-1 victory against Maritzburg United.
Monnapule Saleng put the hosts in front on the stroke of half time.
Maritzburg reduced the deficit five minutes from regulation time, courtesy of Tumelo Njoti’s long-range strike.
Dzvukamanja has suddenly become the spark plug in the Buccaneers’ offensive unit, assisting three times and scoring twice in the club’s last four outings.
The victory moved Pirates into third spot in the DStv Premiership table.
A huge portion of the Soweto side’s fans who were asking the club to ship Dzvukamanja out, seem to have had a change of mind.
His turnaround has been incredible that the club’s fans now cheer him when he is subbed on and off.
Only a few players have managed to ride the storm of the Pirates’ boo boys.
Players previously targeted by the boo boys have either been frozen out of the team or even had their contracts terminated.
This is how Kudakwashe Mahachi, Tendai Ndoro, Takesure Chinyama and Ralph Matema exited the skull and bones side.
Dzvukamanja is now in the last six months of his contract and reports suggest that Pirates are considering extending his stay.
He is also being linked with a move to SuperSport United, who are home to the Zimbabwean duo of Onisimo Bhasera and George Chigova.
All eyes will be on him again in Saturday’s Soweto derby against bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
