MIKE Eaton was crowned winner of this year’s Champion of Champions of Mashonaland after beating Highlands Sports Club champion Roy Garden on shots aggregate at Alexandra Sports Club on Sunday.
Eaton snatched the title from Tom Craven of Highlands.
It was a tough encounter on the greens for both Garden and Eaton as they both acquired eight points in their five games.
Eaton and Garden only lost one game for the entire tournament.

Alexandra Sports Club champion Eaton then got the victory by one shot when he got +31 leaving Garden on 30.
“I am very happy to win, Garden was good and it made our game interesting, he beat me 21-18 in my last match but I won on shots aggregate because my shot was too good.

“The tournament was excellent as it had, a very high standard of bowls, congratulations to all the club champions who took part in the event.

“Today’s games showed that we have a lot of talent, it was very competitive, I will be representing Zimbabwe at Africa States in Namibia and I am playing the pairs with Garden so this was good preparations for us,” said Eaton.

Colin Robertson of Avondale Bowling Club was third with six points.
In the women’s section, Kerry Craven, former defending champion Debbie Robertson and Ursula Gripper of Borrowdale Country Club all recorded six points but the aggregate determined the winner.

Craven was triumphant on +34.
Second place went to Robertson who had +7 while Gripper settled for third place as she amassed +3.
Gripper, who is the Borrowdale champion, said she played her best possible game.

“I enjoyed the tournament, it was good, it was my first time to win as my club’s champion but I did it and it gave me the opportunity to play at this year’s Champion of Champions.

“The games were competitive and I gave it my best shot,” said Gripper.
