A 50-YEAR-OLD Chikanga man was arraigned before senior Mutare magistrate, Mrs Sekai Chiundura for stealing $300 from Mark Brands Investments Ecocash.
Kenneth Ndebvu of House Number 2454, Chikanga Phase 3 pleaded not guilty to the charges and the matter was adjourned to today (Thursday).
Prosecuting, Mr Fletcher Karombe, said Kenneth Ndebvu, who was the supervisor of Mark Brands Investments, from September 2015 to October 2015 exchanged fake $100 with the original money.
Mr Karombe said: “On October 27, Tatenda Sagumbo handed over $400 to Kenneth Ndebvu. Ndebvu did not do a proper handover and verification of procedure with his subordinate Tatenda Sagumbo.
“It is alleged that Prince Tatenda Saurombe, the director of the company, noticed that the money which was handed over, $300 was fake and he asked Ndebvu to explain what had happened. Ndebvu failed to give a convincing explanation leading to his arrest in connection with the offence.”
In denying the allegations, Ndebvu said he never exchanged the money and he only came to know that the money was fake when he was asked by the director.
