Action Empowerment Zimbabwe (AEZ) interim executive members yesterday paid a courtesy call on President Mnangagwa at State House in recognition of his role in empowering Zimbabweans.
Speaking soon after meeting President Mnangagwa, Action Empowerment Zimbabwe president Mr Alson Darikayi said their organisation was keen to support President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 of becoming an upper middle class economy.
“The meeting with His Excellency was to announce the coming in of a new economic empowerment movement, which seeks to empower the people of Zimbabwe.
“AEZ is a mass movement, it is grass roots based, it’s a movement which is all inclusive and apolitical with the vision to empower the people of Zimbabwe.
“We want to take economic empowerment to the remotest parts of the country. In terms of our membership drive, Action Empowerment Zimbabwe is a ward-based movement. Currently, we have set up structures across the country,” said Mr Darikayi.
The empowerment lobby group will be working with the private sector to transform the country’s economy.
“AEZ enjoys a lot of good will and support from the private sector. As I am talking to you, we have struck several partnerships which run into millions of dollars with the private sector that want to come in and support our empowerment initiative.
“We are also going to engage into skills transfer, training programmes. There are organisations that will run with the imparting of training to the youth and women across the country,” Mr Darikayi said.
He said some of the support will go towards the production of traditional foods.
They are also going to source equipment for small-scale miners.
They also donated a solid silver lion carving to President Mnangagwa in recognition of his totem and his vision in ensuring the empowerment drive reaches all corners of the country.
