Economic zones for tourism

The tourism sector is developing special economic zones in various strategic locations of the country to boost revenue generation, a Cabinet minister has said.

Debriefing the media on preparations for the launch of regional uni-visa in Harare on Wednesday, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Engineer Walter Mzembi said each province will host an integrated economic theme park.

“The current budget should capture at least three special economic zones; we are making a case for it with the Minister of Finance and other stakeholders,” said Minister Mzembi.

“We proceeded to incorporate a 100 percent Government-owned company to begin to take position on strategic assets on land that we need to kick-start some of these projects,” he said.
