‘ED cast promises in stone’

President Emmerson Mnangagwa cast his promises in stone through the Election Pledge he published on June 10, 2018, Zanu-PF House of Assembly candidate for Murehwa North Cde Daniel Garwe has said.

Addressing party supporters in Chitowa, Murehwa North last week, Cde Garwe said the nation was free to hold him to account if he failed to meet his end of the bargain.

“I am just the President’s messenger and what I am holding here is the Zanu-PF Manifesto and Pledge. President Mnangagwa presented this to you as proof of his commitment to wholeheartedly serve you. It is like a love token which shows his undying love for the people of Murehwa,” Cde Garwe.

“After voting him into power and him failing to fulfil the pledges that are contained in these documents, you are free to approach the chief’s court and say you, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, gave us this token and promised to build us roads and bridges,” he said.

President Mnangagwa’s five pledges are job creation; anti-corruption; modern, affordable healthcare; modern infrastructure; and educational and employment opportunities.

Cde Garwe, who has been involved in constructing 15 classroom blocks and four clinics in the constituency, said the party would roll out other infrastructure projects.

“Apart from the development of schools, we are also targeting the construction of more clinics, the rehabilitation of more roads and the initiation of more infrastructural development programmes,” he said.

Targeted projects to add value to agricultural produce are also in the works.
