BULAWAYO’S latest night spot, Eden nightclub, promises to be a lively entertainment hub. The club will only allow revellers over the age of 18 through its doors. It will be officially launched tomorrow and every visitor to the club will be required to produce his or her national identity card to avoid having under age revellers.
The club has already attracted attention from local residents because of its biblical name as revellers wait in anticipation to see what the new night spot has to offer.
Formerly Jock and Saddle, the club has become topical on social media sites because of its strict approach with fans discussing what they expect from it on its Facebook page.
In an interview, Eden’s public relations officer, Pamela Sithole said the club wants to be different from other leisure centres which allow under age people to enter their joints.
“We will also maintain a smart casual dress code for all revellers that come to Eden. We want the place to be unique in every way and we have certain standards which we seek to maintain,” she said.
Resident DJs Slamma and Kananjo are expected to keep revellers entertained at the launch and the club will host its first international artistes on 7 December, when South Africans spinners Mahoota and Vetkuk visit for a gig.
Meanwhile, Cape to Cairo today hosts the comedy and karaoke night which will see comedians, Clive Chigubu, Babongile Sikhonjwa and Keith Nkosi come together in top comedy action.
The karaoke segment last week produced fireworks, after revellers were asked to go on stage and sing their favourite songs. Lucky ones walked away with prizes.
Cape to Cairo manageress Catherine Phiri said the idea behind such a night was to bring people together and have fun. “Anyone is free to sing their favourite songs. Best singers have always been winning but at this show we crown the worst singers,” she said.
