WHILE Robert Martin Gumbura, the founder of RMG End Time Message, is now a guest of the State for the next 40 years barring any reprieve should he appeal against both conviction and sentence, the question that remains begging is what has crept into the Church as we have seen a number of self-styled clergymen and prophets being found on the wrong side of the law?
And this for failing to keep some of the 10 Commandments the Lord gave Moses on Mount Sinai, mainly thou shall not commit adultery, thou shall not covert thy neighbour’s wife and/or property.
What is more, the picture could actually be even worse than this given that some are reportedly very good at keeping the ‘11th Commandment’: ‘thou shall not be found out.’
We have said it before, and we say it again, there is no greater God than he who gave us the 10 commandments, and the moment any self-styled clergyman breaks these, as a congregant beat a hasty retreat from whatever church they purport to lead.
We need, as a nation to focus on the increasing crimes, being perpetrated by self-styled religious leaders and teach each other to guard against becoming the next victim.
Because spiritual matters are guided by unquestioning faith, many unsavoury characters are taking advantage of believers.
Only recently we saw a South African pastor command members of his church to graze like animals, and they all dutifully went to pasture.
With such power at their disposal, there is no limit to what the perverted can do to converts as they all inadvertently pretend that they serve a higher calling when in reality they will be using the faithful to appease earthy and sometimes perverted desires.
Not only are the crimes increasing, they are also getting worse in their barbarity.
Stories of rape, theft and other crimes by church leaders show that the cloth has become a favourite refuge for criminals who use the Word of God to dupe those seeking spiritual salvation and divine strength to overcome earthly challenges.
It is now imperative for every person to be wary in their choice of worship circles as some groupings are clearly cults rather than churches.
The line dividing the two is thin and arguably subjective to individual biases but there are general guidelines that everyone can use to evaluate a prospective or current religious group. The simple test are the 10 commandments, anyone who claims to be worshipping God and breaks any of these easy to keep commandments is a wolf in sheep skin.
Run.
