YESTERDAY we published pictures of nine suspected robbers who were arrested by the police last week.
The terror group includes three family members, possibly brothers.
We made the decision to publish their faces so that we name and shame them.
It’s important that we do that because these criminals should be named, and shamed, in equal measure.
It was also meant to send a powerful message to every Zimbabwean that we have these malcontents among us and they are always planning to pounce on us.
People continue to lose their valuables to these heartless armed robbers who don’t care about their victims’ well-being.
We continue to lose our assets to these armed robbers who can do anything to reap what they did not sow.
This is totally unacceptable.
The gang, which was nabbed last week, is now waiting for its date with justice.
We say well done to our police for this major breakthrough.
We know it’s their job but when they do well, as they have done in this case, we need to salute them.
It’s not an easy job to try and arrest these armed robbers and a number of our good police officers have been shot and injured in their pursuit of justice.
These criminals are well armed and they are always ready to shoot and kill whenever they are taking care of their operations or have been cornered.
We are happy that our detectives got the right intelligence from their sources, which led them to track these armed robbers and then arrest them.
When they nabbed the first three, they didn’t pop the champagne to celebrate the fall of this game.
Instead, they used the three suspected armed robbers to help them track and arrest the other six gang members.
It was a very delicate, and dangerous mission but, for the sake of making sure they remove these rotten elements from society, they pursued their chase with added vigour.
Now, it’s for the wheels of justice to deal with these people.
Their victims have been living in fear after all the trauma they suffered when they were attacked by these criminals.
The only relief that they can have is to see these people being jailed.
The festive season involves a lot of travelling and partying but we should never forget to secure our homes and business premises.
Armed robbers will always capitalise during this time of the year as people tend to party recklessly.
We should always be responsible to ensure that we safeguard our assets.
We should never leave our homes unattended during this period of the year.
We also urge the police to carry out regular patrols to ensure that we are safe all the time.
Armed robbers who are nabbed should be jailed to ensure that we make the world a better place to live in.
Our police force should also be empowered to ensure that they bring all suspected robbers to book.
