CASES of Jilted lovers, who torment their former partners, continue to rise with each passing day.
Some court drama as they go to extremes in trying to tarnish their former lovers’ images.
Such cases of heart-broken partners occur when the other partner fails to move on.
In worst scenarios, we have had reports of ex-lovers, who stalk their former partners, causing drama when the other ‘half’ finds a new partner.
The Harare Civil Court has been handling such cases.
And, applications for peace and protection orders have become the order of the day at the civil courts as a result of jilted lovers’ wayward behaviour.
These incidents happen when the other part is still hurting after being given the boot.
Nowadays, bitterness has driven some to use revenge porn to silence their former lovers.
This cruelty has become a new trend, which has undesirable consequences.
As a media outlet, we have often carried these stories where nude or romantic videos are usually leaked out of bitterness by former lovers, when they go separate ways.
This trend is not only sickening but stinks as it has brought a lot of misery to the other part.
The recent case we carried involves a married Ruwa dealer, who clashed with a maid, and then posted her nude video on social media after she dumped him.
The dealer, who could not move on after the maid called it quits, had reportedly been threatening to expose her nude video if they don’t reconcile.
As a married man, the dealer has now created more problems for himself, as the matter is now in the public domain.
Honestly, this level of insanity is not only regrettable but punishable as well.
Perpetrators of porn revenge should bear in mind that they risk rotting in jail for committing such an offence.
Under the Cyber Security Act, the recording and posting of someone’s nude pictures is punishable under the Data Protection Act.
Hefty fines or lengthy jail terms are some of the possible sentences when found guilty.
To lovers, we urge them to stop taking each other nude pictures.
Of course, love comes with a lot of excitement but recording nude videos will always have serious consequences when they find their way into the public domain.
We have had cases where some commit suicide as a result of porn revenge.
Some have lost job opportunities as a result of porn revenge.
Shame can drive people to do the unthinkable, especially if it is sparked by porn revenge.
To avoid such cases, lovers should stop recording each other in birthday suits because these nudes will always find their way into the public domain, even when such gadgets are stolen.
Police chiefs and legal experts have on many occasions warned people against the recording and posting of nude videos on social media.
But, all this appears to be falling on deaf ears.
Why people disregard this call, by the police chiefs and legal experts, is sad.
