DYNAMOS lost again at the weekend — the EIGHTH time the Glamour Boys have lost in the first 20 games of the current season.
They were beaten 0-1 by TelOne, who are coached by Herbert Maruwa, a man who was fired at Dynamos because they felt he was not a good coach.
Ironically, Maruwa’s TelOne are now in third place on the table and the coach said at the weekend that he was now fancying the possibilities that his men could challenge for the league championship.
Simba Bhora, who are leading the championship race, are under the guidance of former Dynamos assistant coach Joel Luphahla.
MWOS, who are in second place on the table, are under the guidance of Lloyd Mutasa, who was also fired at Dynamos.
Scottland, who are in fourth place, are under the guidance of Tonderai Ndiraya, who was also fired at Dynamos.
This means that the top four places on the league table are occupied by coaches who used to work at DeMbare.
The Glamour Boys are under the guidance of Saul Chaminuka, a man who is seen as a lightweight when it comes to coaching in this country.
The success of the coaches who left DeMbare to look for opportunities elsewhere shows that the problem at the Glamour Boys is not about the coaches.
Instead, it is about the poor way the club has been run, especially since Bernard Marriot took over as the board chairman.
It’s been more than a decade of mismanagement at the club with Marriot’s one-man band of administration responsible for the rot which has been creeping in.
This has been happening for years and what we are seeing right now are the results of those years of poor administration by a man who appears to be still stuck in the ‘60s, when this club was formed.
He still lives in a world in which probably believes that the internet never arrived and football matches are won by ensuring that the sangoma is happy instead of investing in the players.
We should have detected the warning signs when a player like Frank Makarati, who was Dynamos captain last season, chose to dump the Glamour Boys and join TelOne because he felt the Midlands side provided him with a better environment to pursue his football dreams.
In short, the message that Makarati sent to us was that TelOne was a better club than DeMbare.
He is not the only one.
Simba Bhora’s quest to defend their league crown is being pushed by some players who dumped the Glamour Boys because they felt their welfare was being compromised.
Therefore, we should not be surprised that Dynamos find themselves in this mess where they are now fighting relegation.
Some of their fans are now resigned to the possibility that their team will be playing Division One football next year.
Their next assignment is against Simba Bhora in Shamva next weekend and it appears their mission is doomed.
