adminTHE brutal sexual assault of a Grade 6 pupil in Glen Norah last Saturday made provided a script that was sad to read.
It comes at a time when the Government, children’s rights organisations and activists are busy fighting in the girl child’s corner.
It’s also unfortunate as the efforts we are putting together, to safeguard young girls, are being jeopardised by evil sex predators.
Young girls deserve protection from elders who should not be caught offside violating their rights. The 50-year-old man, who allegedly raped the child in her mother’s house, deserves punishment.
The demonic man should pay for his sins and a strong message should be sent once he gets convicted.
More investigations should be made just in case there are several victims out there suffering silently despite having been abused by these predators.
Judging by the circumstances, and police investigations, there are also chances that this matter was premeditated, which makes the 50-year-old man a criminal.
The Glen Norah community should be applauded for their efforts in apprehending the man who has since appeared in court facing rape charges.
Members of the community showed their courage by making sure the suspected rapist was taken to the police station.
However, the young student’s life has been left in tatters by this evil man who might have been preying on these young kids all along.
This is totally unacceptable as Government, and various stakeholders, are busy addressing such matters involving child abuse.
Rapists should never be entertained as they destroy innocent victims’ lives.
It’s very sad when young girls, in their early teens, are also on the receiving end as is the case with our Glen Norah kid.
As parents, we should make sure that we offer our children the best protection they need.
It is unfortunate when young kids’ lives are being destroyed by heartless rapists.
Parents/guardians should prioritise the safety of their children.
Some of the children spend a lot of their time in the company of strangers or neighbours which expose them to all forms of abuse.
We should also trust the maids who spend a lot of their time with our children. Some of the maids spend a lot of their time on social media and neglect the welfare of the children, which they should be taking care of.
We should engage mature maids who have our children at heart.
Children should also be taught to report evil people violating their rights and also to avoid the company of strangers.
Child rape, which is now spiraling out of hand, should never be tolerated. Violation of children’s rights should never be allowed to happen.
Our children deserve maximum protection against all forms of abuse as enshrined in the national constitution.
Children’s safety should top our priorities both at home and school where they spend a lot of their time with other kids.
