MOTORISTS have been urged to consider tighter security of Honda Fit vehicles because they are being targeted by thieves.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, said police are investigating a number of car theft cases, involving Honda Fit vehicles.

“Cases of car theft are being reported every day and a number of victims leave their vehicles unlocked and some idling,” said Insp Chakanza.

Among those who have lost their vehicles are Stanislaus Mtetwa, 23, of Greendale.

He lost his Honda Fit (ADN 9648) on Saturday after leaving it parked at Rose Blanner car park, Parirenyatwa Hospital residence.

Stanislaus had gone to visit his friend at Mother Patrick Hostel.

After the visit, he went back to the car park, where he had parked his motor vehicle, and discovered that his car, worth US$4000, was missing.

Maud Chikandiwa, 32, of Glen Forest, lost her black Honda Fit Hybrid (AFY 9298) on Sunday.

It was parked along Parklane in Harare. Maud left the car for almost five hours, attending a church service and, upon returning, she found the vehicle, worth US$7000, missing.
