YESTERDAY, our main story was the bombshell news that former champion boxer Arifonso “Mosquito” Zvenyika’s marriage is on the rocks.
This follows stunning revelations that his wife was having an extra-marital affair in which she even referred to her boyfriend’s private parts by his totem.
It has since emerged the name of the boyfriend is Leonard Jamanda who claims, in conversation with Mosquito, that she lied to him that she was a single mother.
The cheeky boyfriend even told Mosquito to ‘GO AND HANG,” when he confronted him with the evidence.
On Sunday, the ex-champion boxer returned home from the gym and found that his wife, Jesman Mutokonya, had vacated their home in Mushongandebvu Street, Mbare.
She took with her most of the household furniture, including a kitchen unit, a wardrobe, blankets as well as all the food bought for the festive period.
She also left with their three children aged 12, 8 and 3.
Her shenanigans came to light when her phone required some repairs and Mosquito took it to a technician.
And, as the phone was being repaired the former Commonwealth boxing champion came across explicit chats between his wife and her boyfriend.
Explicit chats in possession of H-Metro reveal an extra-marital romantic affair in which the two love birds had sexual intercourse a number of times.
Mosquito told us that what was infuriating him the most was the lack of remorse on the part of his wife’s boyfriend.
He claimed that when he confronted Jamanda with the evidence, he went on the offensive and told the former champion to divorce his wife if he felt she was cheating.
He even claimed that he did not believe that Mosquito was clean, when it comes to such adulterous affairs and said there were too many women in the country for men to fight for one woman.
When he was threatened with legal action, Jamanda told Mosquito that he was ready for it.
Mosquito said he even thought of killing both his wife and boyfriend in his moment of rage but received counselling from a top lawyer who he trains at a local gym.
The lawyer told him that the best way to deal with the case was through the legal route.
That is sound advice because if Mosquito harms his estranged wife and her lover then he will be in serious trouble with the law and could end up behind bars again.
We can see that he has been wronged but that doesn’t give him the licence to take the law into his hands and hurt those who wronged him.
He can sue his wife’s lover for adultery.
Clearly, it’s going to be difficult for his marriage to be retrieved from the pool of shame where it has been dragged by his estranged wife.
We can’t make decisions on the couple’s behalf.
What we know is that what Mosquito’s wife did is quite shameful and this will troll her for the rest of her life.
She will pay a huge price for her wild fantasies.
