Government’s drive to harness research, innovation and science as key pillars of sustainable national development takes centre stage today, as the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Dr Frederick Shava, is expected to officiate at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST)’s sixth Blended Annual Education for Sustainable Development Interdisciplinary Research Conference.
The event is being held under the theme Reimaging STEM Education for a Sustainable Future: Fostering Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration.
The conference has brought together academics, researchers, policymakers, industry representatives and students to deliberate on innovative research and practical solutions that advance sustainable development through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Dr Shava is expected to deliver the keynote address, outlining Government’s commitment to strengthening research, innovation and science-driven development in line with Zimbabwe’s national development agenda and Vision 2030.
The annual conference provides a platform for scholars from diverse disciplines to present research findings, exchange knowledge and explore partnerships aimed at addressing pressing socio-economic and environmental challenges.
The conference is expected to generate recommendations that will strengthen the role of higher and tertiary education institutions in fostering innovation, evidence-based policymaking and sustainable development across Zimbabwe and beyond.
