THE Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is holding the Early Warning System (EWS) training aimed at achieving a zero school drop out rate policy in all educational institutions across the country.

The workshop is being held in Inyathi in Bubi District, Matabelelend North Province, where district trainers, comprising of educators, social workers, psychologists, members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)’s Victim Friendly Unit, health personnel and officials from the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training among others.

CAMFED, a non profit organisation that addresses challenges of girls exclusion from education, also partnered the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in hosting the training.

The aim of the training is to empower district trainers with the skills to tackle the scourge of school drop puts in the province and country at large.

The training emphasises three pillars of the Early Warning System which encompass re-admission of school drop outs, retaining students already in the education system and addressing the factors that lead to high drop out rates.

The training will also explore ways of ensuring that schools provide a safe and protective environment for all learners.
