Egodini upset champs Entumbane

DEFENDING champions Entumbane fell 5-9 to Egodini in a Bulawayo Pool League match on Saturday. The team which has been dominating the league since the season started went into the match as clear favourites but got the shock of their lives as Egodini had other ideas. Wilson Mudari, spokesman of the champions blamed the defeat on complacency on the part of his players.

“The players went into this game with their mental state relaxed and they didn’t expect this game to be a tough encounter. We didn’t pick our strongest team and that was something that we did intentionally which cost us dearly. Egodini showed us that they mean business and managed to beat us with a significant margin,” said Mudari.

He said it was a wake up call for them and they would be tightening the screws for the upcoming fixtures if they hope to win the title.

“The loss is a learning curve and we’re going to be taking things to the next level. The guys were obviously not happy with the defeat and they’ll be working hard to get back to winning ways. Other teams will be looking to take advantage of this slumber and defeat us but we’ll give them a run for their money,” said Mudari.
