Egypt denies presence of US base in Sinai

and the United States in late December 2012.
“This information is completely incorrect, and we’ve repeatedly denied the presence of any US or foreign military bases on Egyptian lands,” armed forces spokesman, Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Ali, said in a statement Saturday in response to the claims raised by political activist Dalia Ziada on an Egyptian TV channel.

“The fixed principles of the defence policies for the preservation of national security and sovereignty do not accept the presence of foreign bases on Egypt’s lands,” he added, calling on political figures, activists and the media to be prudent when talking about this issue due to their influence on the public opinion. —Xinhua.
