Egypt snatched the final Afcon Futsal semifinal spot after a 3-2 win over Morocco in their ultimate Group B match on Wednesday at the Ellis Park Indoor Arena in Johannesburg while Libya crashed out despite a 4-2 win over Angola.

The victory was enough for the Pharaohs to finish top of the group on seven points, one more than Morocco, who booked their place after the second day’s matches. Libya garnered four points while Angola were pointless.

The three-time winners needed at least victory to be certain of a place at the semis and their determination paid off against a Moroccan side which had yet to taste defeat at the championship.

Ahmed Mohamed put the Egyptians up on 12 minutes but an own-goal by Mostafa Eid saw the first half end even. On the half-hour mark, Mohamed restored the Pharaohs’ lead before Eid redeemed his image with the third goal three minutes later. The Moroccans pulled one back through Adil Habil five minutes from time.

At the Orlando Hall, Libya took a 3-0 lead by the tenth minute thanks to a Salem Mustafa brace and the other from Mohamed Suleiman. Mustafa sealed his hat-trick two minutes after the break before the Angolans reduced the deficit through Artur da Silva and Mario Jose Antonio.
