‘Egyptian ex-president Mubarak getting better’

Mubarak’s lawyer Farrid el-Deeb said yesterday.
In an exclusive interview with Xinhua, Deeb noted that he met with Mubarak last night in the military hospital, and also maintains contact with his relatives.

“I saw him last night in the intensive care. He is getting better and better, and I believe he will be fine as long as he remains in the military hospital,” said Deeb.

Mubarak was transferred on Thursday last week from Tora Prison Hospital to the Maadi Military Hospital for treatment due to his deteriorating health condition.

Prosecutor-General Talaat Ibrahim Abdullah last week ordered that Mubarak be transferred to a military hospital, and be returned to the prison immediately after recovery.

Mubarak was transferred from the prison hospital to Maadi Military Hospital on December 19 for a CT scan, and was returned afterwards.

The ousted president, who is serving life imprisonment for ordering the killing of protesters in 2011, was recently injured in his head after slipping and falling down in a bathroom of the prison hospital. — Xinhua.
