Police have released names of six people who were recently jailed for various terms ranging between five and 10 years for committing serious crimes of concern.
Some of them were jailed for car theft, armed robbery, dealing in dangerous drugs and unlawful trade of precious minerals.
In a statement, national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said, “The Zimbabwe Republic Police has released the names of suspects who were arrested and convicted for various crimes of concern throughout the country for the week ending April 24, 2025.”
They are Enock Mukwanda, who was jailed 12 years for theft of a motor vehicle, Nigel Matongora and Hope Masoka, who were arrested for armed robbery and jailed 10 years each, Collen Gweme, jailed 10 years for contravening the Electricity Act, Chapter 13:19, while Cephas Mukombwe was arrested for contravening the Precious Stones Trade Act, Chapter 21:06 and sentenced to five years in prison.
Others are Elizabeth Marikafu, who was arrested for dealing in dangerous drugs and jailed for eight years, while Isaac Mafa and Brian Tinomudaishe Kaseke were jailed for fraud and theft of a motor vehicle.
They were sentenced to eight years in prison for theft and four years for fraud.
Comm Nyathi said: “The Zimbabwe Republic Police will continue to engage the Judiciary to impose deterrent sentences to offenders.
