EIGHT entrepreneur teams from eight high schools in Zimbabwe will receive €5 000 each to implement their business ventures in a programme aimed at equipping young people to become business leaders from ZB and Deloitte Germany.
Emergination Africa executive director Mr Taku Machirori said the virtual innovation accelerator is an opportunity for his organisation in partnership with Deloitte Consulting to accelerate the National Business Case Competition (NBCC) student entrepreneurs in the country.
“The annually held NBCCs, which are sponsored by the ZB Bank, laid a solid foundation for this accelerator programme. This exciting and entrepreneurship focused programme will see eight NBCC student entrepreneur teams receive €5 000 each to implement their business ventures, and in the process, realise their path along the education to employment and employment creation highway,” he said.
The programme, that is running for four months reached the half-way stage yesterday with Oriel Boys High School, Nyatsime College, Northlea High School, Hippo Valley High School, Mzingwane High School, Queen Elizabeth High School, St Dominic’s Chishawasha and Manama High School, pitching their business venture ideas before a panel of judges.
The past president of the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries Mr Sifelani Jabangwe, who sat on the panel said the presentations were “of a high standard” and urged the school teams’ to be aggressive.
While there were winners for various categories, all eight schools who participated will receive the same seed capital of €5 000.
