Elderly Mat North woman succumbs to Covid 19

COVID-19 has claimed the life of a 71-year- old granny in Matabeleland North province, bringing the death toll in the country to 26.

The number of Covid-19 positive cases in the country has risen to 1 713, with 102 new infections being recorded yesterday.

Of the 102 new cases reported countrywide, 81 cases are of local transmissions while 21 were imported.

The death of an elderly woman in Matabeleland due to Covid-19 which was detected in a post mortem is the second death in the province, following the death of a 63-year-old woman reported on July 10.

Bulawayo has recorded 42 new Covid-19 cases, all of them from local transmissions bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases in the city to 525.

Matabeleland South province recorded 17 new cases, with only one local transmission.
