The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Deputy Chairperson Terry Tselane says that the commission is left with 5% of the vote counting for the 2014 general elections.
IEC has made an arrangement to declare the results on Saturday.
“I am confident that we will be done by lunch time”
Speaking in an interview on SA FM’s AM Live show Tselane adds that the IEC has made an arrangement to declare the results on Saturday.
He indicates that the system is so efficient that they are they will be able to declare the results so soon in accordance with the legislation.
The Deputy Chair says that the ballots papers that were dumped in different areas had already been counted and captured in the IEC system.
He adds that the dumped ballots will not have any effect on the results.
Tselane indicates that in terms of the legislation the ballots and all election material is supposed to be stored at IEC warehouses for six months.
He adds that there is an investigation currently underway and the IEC officials responsible will be held accountable.-SABC NEWS
