“SING, O barren, you who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who did not travail with child! For more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, says the Lord.
“Enlarge the place of your tent and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; do not hold back, lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes. For you will spread abroad to the right hand and to the left, and your descendants will possess the nations and will people the desolate cities.” — Isaiah 54:1-3
Beloved, November is a month of fruitfulness, a time of harvest and abundance.
As we reflect on Isaiah 54:1-3, we are reminded that God is the One who brings fruitfulness out of barrenness. He takes what is sterile and makes it productive; what is dry, He makes fruitful.
Like the barren woman, we may have felt unfruitful, unproductive or stuck.
We may have felt like our prayers were not being answered, our efforts were not bearing fruit and our dreams were dying.
But God says “Sing, O barren; break forth into singing” for the season of fruitfulness has come.
God promises to enlarge our territory, to stretch out our curtains and to strengthen our stakes.
He will cause us to spread, to possess the nations and to people the desolate cities.
This is a season of expansion, growth and abundance.
In this month of fruitfulness, let us enlarge our vision, expecting God to do exceedingly, abundantly above all we ask or think.
We are to stretch out our faith, trusting God to bring fruitfulness out of barrenness.
We are also to strengthen our roots, digging deep into God’s word and promises, just as Colossians 2 verse 7 encourages:
“Rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
Let us celebrate the fruitfulness of November by giving thanks for the blessings in our lives and embracing the opportunities for growth and abundance that this month brings.
As we do so, we will see the following:
Financial breakthroughs: God will provide for our needs and open the windows of heaven (Malachi 3:10).
Spiritual growth: We will bear fruit in every good work, demonstrating the character of Christ (John 15:1-8).
• Relational restoration: God will bring reconciliation, healing and unity in our relationships (Matthew 5:23-24).
Physical healing: God will bring wholeness and restoration to our bodies (Isaiah 53:5).
Let us break forth into singing, celebrating the fruitfulness of November and the God who makes us fruitful.
Let us pray: Lord, we thank you for the season of fruitfulness.
We enlarge our vision, stretch out our faith, strengthen our roots and spread abroad, trusting you to bring abundance and growth.
Amen.
