THE Employers’ Confederation of Zimbabwe (Emcoz) and the Institute of People Management will at the end of the month present results of a survey carried to determine workers’ best employer. The survey was carried out on 70 companies from 15 different sectors. Emcoz said the results of the survey would be presented in Harare on 28 June at a ceremony to award the best companies.
The companies will be honoured for their outstanding efforts in the 2012/13 period.
“Without doubt, this will be the biggest employer of choice event . . . Emcoz and the Institute of People Management (IPMZ) are proud to present results of this national survey which we believe is a major step in easing availability of national repository of key data,” said the employers’ representative body.
It said this would assist organisations in benchmarking their employee engagement results to the national and industrial figures.
The survey results come at a time when a number of companies are facing operational constraints, a situation that has weighed down their capacity to offer competitive remuneration.
Due to fundamentals such as liquidity challenges in the economy, erratic power supplies and ageing equipment, a number of firms are failing to stimulate productivity.
A report released by the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries at the end of 2012 revealed that capacity utilisation in the manufacturing sector was at 44,2 percent.
