A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly bludgeoning his boss with wooden planks before strangling him to death with a towel in an armed robbery gone wrong in Kumalo suburb, Bulawayo.

The suspect has been identified by police as Kelvin Matambudziko Ndavambi.

Police are hunting for a second suspect only identified as Dhlamini.

“ZRP has arrested Kelvin Matambudziko Ndavambi (24) for killing his employer, a foreign national, Noor Hussein (67), on 9 May 2026 while trying to rob him and his family in Khumalo suburb, Bulawayo.

“The suspect, who was in the company of an accomplice identified as Dhlamini, went to the businessman’s residence and attacked him during the night while armed with pistols and wooden planks, before strangling him with a towel in front of his family,” said national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi.

The suspect and his accomplice then fled the scene.

“The family raised the alarm, which prompted other family relatives to rush to the scene,” said Comm Nyathi.

The murder suspect was arrested in the Bulawayo city centre on Wednesday while allegedly attempting to board a bus to Harare.

Police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of Dhlamini.
