Mugabe’s strong character and safeguard the country’s sovereignty.

He was speaking at a belated 21st February Movement celebrations at Goromonzi Primary School in Mudzi South on Saturday.

Cde Kaukonde said it was important for the youths to look up to President Mugabe as a role model for them to be able to defend the gains of the liberation struggle.

“Our President is very hard working, humble and he enjoys working for the country to the extent that if all the youths could follow in his foot steps, this country’s future would be safe because you are the future of the country.

“It is your duty as youths to defend the sovereignty of the country because you are the majority in this country, when our President was young he played his part to liberate this country so now is your time because you are still young and active.”

There was need for youths to be united and develop the nation.

“Instead of concentrating on rushing to get into power, let us use what we have to develop our society.

“Our President taught us to use the land we have to empower ourselves, so I am urging you all to use this land to empower yourselves,” he said.

Cde Kaukonde donated 2 500 day-old chicks for youths in the district for poultry projects.
