DZIKO Games in partnership with other local pool associations is set to host the Bulawayo Year Ending Open Singles Pool Tournament at Golden Pillars in Bulawayo on Saturday.
The tournament is set to bring a memorable year of pool to a proper closing. Over 100 players from the city’s different leagues, the premier league, Mzilikazi district league and the Central Business District (CBD) league are expected to participate in the tournament.

Registration for the league is US$2 on Friday and the draw is set to be conducted on the same day. All matches are scheduled to start at 1100hrs with a walkover at 1200hrs.
One of the tournament organisers, Ozzy Dziko said they are looking forward to a great event that will make sure they end the year on a high note as they prepare for the new season.
“We hope the tournament is going to be a huge success as we are aiming to close the year 2022 on a high note and set the standard for 2023 which we hope is going to be bigger and better,” said Dziko.
The winner of the tournament is expected to take home US$100 and a gold medal, number two will pocket US$70 and a silver medal while third place will get US$50 and a bronze medal. Position four will be rewarded US$30 while positions five to eight will pocket US$10 and nine to six will get US$5.

The tournament, which brings the year to a close comes after awards ceremonies were held last week where Kings Pool Club emerged overall winners of the premier league and pocketed US$1 500, a trophy and gold medals while second placed Queens Pool Academy won US$600 and silver medals and third placed Entumbane Pool Club pocketed US$400 plus bronze medals.
BPA Cup winners, Entumbane walked away with US$500 while runners up Queens got US$350 and third placed Real Caravan won US$270. In fourth place, Lobengula Sharks won US$200.
Givemore Chipapata was named the Best Under-21 player of the year while seasoned Stanley Marko was voted BPPA player of the year, President’s award.

At the CBD awards Expendables Central, Ekasi finished in positions one, two and three respectively and Queens Park were named most disciplined team.
The AGM meeting for next season is expected to be held early February next year and the league is expected to commence early March. The actual dates are yet to be advised.— @brandon_malvin
