BULAWAYO will play host to the Unforgettable Moments Heroes Holiday Soccer Extravaganza in which teams from around the country will take part in on Sunday and Monday at Hartsfield Rugby Ground.

The event is an annual tournament founded by former Zimbabwe rugby international Gilbert Nyamutsamba through his social soccer side and is sponsored by Unforgettable.

Integrity Ncube, the spokesman of the organisers, said apart from celebrating the country’s heroes, they will also be promoting wellness.

“On the 9th and 10th of August, we will be having our national social soccer tournament at Hartsfield Rugby Ground in Bulawayo, where we are bringing social sides together. The tournament will have men who play soccer to keep healthy and to be safe as men within their space.

“Part of our theme is to celebrate Heroes Day but also making sure that male figure from our society can come together in a very relaxed atmosphere and talk about things that affect them as men at the same time relaxing. We have teams coming through from Zvishavane, Gweru and Harare,” said Ncube.

He said Bulawayo will supply the bulk of the teams.

Ncube said the weekend choice resonated well with the holiday.

“We decided to have this tournament during Heroes Celebrations because our country was liberated by those heroes.

Yes we celebrate the Heroes but at the same time the fathers, the uncles and the grandfathers who are heroes in the community. So you will find out that the tournament is for elderly men,” said Ncube.

Active players will not be allowed to take part in the event.
