Energy club hunting

goalkeeper during their African Cup of Nations debut in Tunisia in 2004, last played for Bidvest Wits in the 2011/12 season.
But he did not find a club for the current campaign after he was deemed surplus to requirements at the Braamfontein-based outfit.

Murambadoro’s agent Benjee Nkhato said that the player has returned home to Zimbabwe after spending a few days of the New Year in South Africa.
“Energy hasn’t found a club just yet. He has gone back to Zimbabwe again. He left last Sunday. He has been waiting for calls from potential employers but no club has called him so far,” said Nkhato. Murambadoro’s situation is worsened by the fact that he is a foreigner.

The former Mpumalanga Black Aces goal minder has one more year to spend in South Africa before he could qualify for permanent residency. That would mean that the big goalkeeper who has also seen duty in Israel and Belgium would not need to secure a work permit for any of his future clubs.

But what is key for Murambadoro, the Zimbabwe soccer Star of the Year in 2003 is to get back to what he does best — playing football again —  before he can worry about South African permanent residency.

That Murambadoro has set his sights on getting an South African top-flight l club rules out an immediate return to the domestic Premiership for the man they affectionately call “Gokwe’’. — Laduma Sports Reporter.
