Veteran Afro-jazz singer Tanga WekwaSando is set to release a rendition of his smash hit “Nyenyedzi YeMugovera” in English in a bid to take his music internationally.

The song titled “Stars of a Saturday Evening” will be on his forthcoming album titled “Joburg Bound” which he is set to be released soon.

Tanga said he will keep his “style” which has endeared him well with the fans over the years.

Veteran township and afro-jazz singer and song writer, Tanga WekwaSando has over the past year been diligently working on this particular project that he is greatly convinced is ready for the market.

“The sound is certainly still township, purely techno at the same time revamped with live instruments. Synthesised and live baselines combined with fast electro-rhythms are traits that define this new influence, making the songs danceable anywhere in the world.

“Simply translated, the album ‘Joburg Bound’ is conventional and the whole concept is deeply rooted in my belief that through this project I aim to achieve world listenership that would pave way for new avenues in my illustrious career,” he said.

The album was passionately driven by his will to serve multitude of his adoring fans that have perhaps for a long time been waiting for something new from the dazzling performer.

The veteran musician said he was releasing the album to satiate his fans who have gone for sometime without something new from him.

“Fans that I meet and brush shoulders with on daily basis kept on asking me to release something.

“I therefore and have always approached these requests with a positive mind-set knowing that I have a God given duty to try and appease them.

“However, the fact that I have introduced a house feel does not mean that I have changed from the usual Tanga that fans familiarised themselves with but the idea was to come up with a unique and appealing project to the global audience,” said Tanga.

“My dream has always been about challenging my creativity, my wings, flexibility and freedom as an artist,” he said.

The title of the album chronicles the narrative of extensive migration of people regionally and internationally to South Africa which according to the Kora All Music Awards nominee, has become the “African New York”.
