THE Entrepreneurs Network Association of Zimbabwe (ENAZ) is gearing up to host a ground-breaking symposium in April, aimed at positioning Zimbabwe as a prime destination for agricultural investment while reinforcing the Government’s commitment to private sector engagement in agribusiness.
The event, set for 11 April in Harare, will bring together key stakeholders in agriculture, finance, and policy to drive Zimbabwe’s economic resurgence. It is expected to spotlight the agricultural sector’s critical role in achieving the country’s Vision 2030 goals, with a focus on food security, investment opportunities, and sustainable value addition.
Strategically aligned with the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development’s agenda, the symposium aims to boost agricultural productivity, enhance mechanisation, and promote sustainable farming practices. With targeted policies, government incentives, and private sector participation, agriculture is poised to become Zimbabwe’s foundation for long-term economic resilience.
As one of the most vital pillars of economic stability, job creation, and industrial growth, agriculture contributes over 17 percent to Zimbabwe’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and employs nearly 70 percent of the population, particularly in rural areas. Beyond primary production, the sector supports agro-processing industries, export markets, and financial services, making it a key driver of economic diversification.
ENAZ Director, Ms Tsitsi Linda Mutemaringa, said the symposium will strengthen Zimbabwe’s appeal as an agricultural investment hub while fostering collaboration between the government and private sector.
“We aim to showcase agriculture as a viable, high-yield investment opportunity while fostering dialogue on modern agricultural trends, financing solutions, and technology-driven farming innovations,” said Ms Mutemaringa.
With over 300 expected attendees, including investors, agribusiness leaders, policymakers, and international trade representatives, the symposium will serve as a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and strategic networking.
Key topics to be addressed include:
– Transitioning from subsistence farming to commercial agribusiness models that ensure profitability and sustainability.
– Exploring smart agriculture, precision farming, and AI-driven solutions to maximise productivity.
– Addressing climate change challenges and promoting eco-friendly farming techniques.
– Unlocking global export opportunities and enhancing Zimbabwe’s agricultural value chain.
The symposium aligns with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision that “Zimbabwe is open for business,” reinforcing the country’s commitment to inclusive and transformative economic development. A thriving agricultural sector means more jobs, increased exports, and strengthened rural economies, ultimately driving national prosperity.
