Who should apply?

Miners and anyone who generates effluent and solid waste, hazardous waste and air emissions into the environment.

Industries and anyone who generates effluent and solid waste, hazardous waste and air emissions.

Farmers and anyone who generates effluent, solid waste and store hazardous substances in this category.

Hazardous substance manufactures, importers, sellers, transporters and users.

Why do you need a licence?

It is a requirement by law to ensure everyone’s right to a safe and clean environment as enshrined in the constitution of our state by:

1. Complying to the relevant legislation such as :

a) The Environmental Management Act (Cap 20:27)

b) Statutory Instrument no. 6 of 2007 (Effluent and Solid waste)

c) Statutory Instrument no. 7 of 2007 (EIA & Ecosystems Protection)

d) Statutory Instrument no. 10 of 2007 (Hazardous waste management)

e) Statutory Instrument no. 12 of 2007 (Hazardous substances, pesticides and other toxic substances)

f) Statutory Instrument no. 72 of 2007 (Atmospheric Pollution Control)

2. Protection of the environment by adhering to the provisions of the environmental legislation standards.
