from Epworth were treated to a one of a kind bash that left them asking for more on Saturday night.
The bash was initially meant to be a “Passa Passa” (dancehall street party) but due to heavy rains that hit most parts of the capital that night it was moved to Epworth Community Hall.
The bash might have started later than the slated time on the night but neither that nor the pouring rain was enough to dampen the revellers’ spirits to make them go home.
“This initiative is meant not only to entertain the ghetto people but scout for talent as well. We also made time for some of the outstanding local acts, the likes of Elder Tista, Prince Metro among others.
“It is going to be a monthly session where we will go into different ghettos chosen at random. As the year progresses, we promise the bashes to be bigger than ever,” said show organiser Templeman real name Simbarashe Maphosa.
The Godfather of Dancehall did not disappoint as he did what he does best by hyping the party on stage while Mceeing for the fun starved youths.
Deejay Garry B (Garry Chiwala ), Templeman’s confidant, lived up to his name and proved why he is the Dancehall Professor.
He threw in one “wicked” hit after the other much to the amusement of the Epworth community.
“This show was especially meant to give our ghetto youths a chance to experience first-hand what our local industry has to offer. Our local dancehall is filled with unbelievable raw talent that is yet to be discovered.
“Platforms like these are meant to bring that talent to the people because waiting on promoters to come through once in a while is not enough to give to bridge the gap,” he said.
Deejay Garry B also reiterated that places like Epworth have over the years been left out on the fun because while some up-coming artistes come through to promote their music in the ghettos they do
not bother to return once they make a name for themselves.
Guspy Warrior (Emmanuel Manyeruke) did not disappoint throughout his performance. His act was filled with energy and he gave his Epworth fans a taste of the Mafia 19 music.
Clad in his signature army green regalia, the dance hall Dada also treated fans to a mini dance session.
It kicked off with his latest hit “Seunononga” before he slowed the tempo with “Kangu Kachimoko”.
