THE jersey that former Zimbabwe international Esrom Nyandoro wore when he scored a scorcher against Cameroon in the Afcon Tunis Finals in 2004 is expected to take Bulawayo kids to school.
It will be among six iconic jerseys in the player’s collection to be auctioned on December 13 at gala diner to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
A spokesperson for the Esrom Nyadoro Foundation, Vimbai Ndlovu, said the former footie started doing charity work during the Covid-19 era. He said with the rising number of people they are assisting they had resolved to sell some of his jerseys including the Warriors shirt he wore when he scored a spectacular goal against Ghana during the 2004 Tunis Afcon finals.
Ndlovu revealed that during the Covid-19 era touched by the plight of his Mzilikazi community, Nyandoro kicked off his Esrom Nyandoro Foundation with a donation of 240 bags of mealie meal.
“So when Covid-19 was over Nyandoro explored what else he could do. He chose education and started assisting children with school fees. Many parents lost jobs and could not afford to continue taking children to school,” said Ndlovu.
She said they had decided to have a gala diner where attendants will be expected to make a donation of R4000 to help the foundation in 2026.
