controls the iron ore reserves to be exploited by Essar Holdings.
Industry and Commerce Minister Welshman Ncube said conclusion of the talks would lead to work resuming at the giant steel company.
“Once we succeed in resolving the issue around the shareholding structure of New Zim Minerals this week workers at New Zimsteel will be paid their outstanding salaries by the end of this month,” said Minister Ncube.
“We are re-negotiating the share structure of New Zim Minerals from the 80-20 percent following a Cabinet decision that we should re-negotiate but I cannot give figures because we are negotiating.
“Negotiations are going on very well. We should be able to have a clear position on the outcome by the end of the week.”
NewZim Steel suspended paying salaries arguing that Essar Africa Holdings had forked out millions in wages without production.
